Island Life

by Kitchen Ladies

Well, it doesn’t get much better than living on an island where one is closest to everything that you could possibly need to feed the body and soul. For us, Jamestown, Rhode Island will always be our home. Jamestown is a tiny island that is 9 miles long and 2 miles wide so, no matter where you go on the island, you can be guaranteed a mesmerizing water view.

Here are just a few of our favorite things about Jamestown in the summer …

The Jamestown Farmer’s Market

Each Monday (4-7pm) during the summer you can head down to Fort Getty and relax at the farmer’s market under the pavilion on the beach. Local vendors offer grass fed beef, eggs from pasture raised hens, locally grown veggies, flowers and much more along with an assortment of crafts.

The Island Heron Yoga Studio

We love being able to ride our bikes to a yoga class and even better, the option to take a paddleboard yoga class! The paddleboard classes meet at one of two places depending on the tide – Fort Wetherill or Sheffield Cove. Both spots have an incredibly spiritual and magical energy about them.

Zeek’s Creek

Fresh fish locally caught and just down the road … can it get any better? No matter who’s in the shop, you can be guaranteed that they will greet you with a smile and offer advice on how to cook the fish of the day. We love Zeek’s and know that it is officially summer when that “open” flag is raised!

The ShackCollage

The Shack

It doesn’t take much to create the magic here, just add tranquil West Ferry, a little shack, a few picnic tables and some awesome food. This is our new favorite spot to grab lunch and sit with our dogs by the water getting lost in the view while enjoying some delicious food.
